2020-2021 Academic Year Plans
Hello Summit Christian Academy Family, I pray you and your family are well and enjoying the summer weather. In the last few months I have met with medical and educational professionals, our Emergency Response Team and Administrative Team to assess and formulate the best plan for our 2020-2021 school year. After discussing the matter with our school board and presenting the plans for re-opening school, I am delighted to share we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back on campus for instruction on August 12th. However, we do recognize there are some who are concerned and would like to have their child learn from home, while continuing have them be a part of our excellent academic program. For those families, we are offering simultaneous instruction. Your child will be able to live stream their classes and participate as if they were in the classroom with their teacher and classmates. You will have the opportunity to choose this option at the beginning of each nine-week period. Nevertheless, if your child falls ill in the middle of a nine-week period, they will be able to register for simultaneous instruction. In order for this format to be successful, there are three vital aspects which will need to be met:
Your child will need to be equipped (by you) with a computer, webcam and microphone.
Your student will be required to have a private working space where distractions will be limited, as they will be seen and heard by their classmates and teacher.
Your student will have the same academic expectations as if they were in class. Tests, quizzes, homework and classwork will need to be turned in on the announced due date.
For those of you who will be joining us on campus, we will be implementing the following:
Every adult and child coming on campus will have their temperature checked.
We will be adding cleaning/sanitizing throughout the day to our already outstanding decontamination practices.
We will encourage our students and staff members to wash their hands frequently.
Students are not required to wear masks/face shields, unless they are changing classes. Our teachers will be wearing face shields throughout the day.
Thanks to the size of our school and number of students enrolled, we will not have a problem observing social distancing in the classrooms.
Our Emergency Response Team and Administrative Team have formulated other plans which might need to be implemented if COVID-19 cases have a drastic increase and we are forced to go virtual again.
In these tumultuous times I am grateful for these scriptures; 2 Thessalonians 3:16, “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you” and Numbers 6:24-26, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Hallelujah, He is our peace! Please continue to check your email and our website for updates. We will be sending information regarding Open House/Orientation by the end of this week. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Grace and Peace, Mrs. Rooney Principal
